A Colorado Notary Public

I'm Now a Certified Notary Signing Agent
After study, study, study I am now not only a Colorado Notary Public, I am now certified by the NNA as a Background Checked Notary Signing Agent. This means that I can act as a notary on various real estate transaction and related loan documents in the State of Colorado. I had to take a three part test that included general notary 'best practices', general notary processes and requirements and a section on Colorado Notary Law.
So now I can proudly display the official seal of this certification from the NNA!
A first time for Everything
Wow! I always kind of wondered how a Notary Public got that official stamp and the right to verify complex documents but I never thought I would end up with a commission as a Colorado Notary Public myself.
This all started when I lost my job because of hard economic times (and government change) impacting the industry I'm (was) in. I needed some form of income and this looked like a way to start a low investment business. It is! You need to fill in the proper paperwork submit it to the Secretary of State of Colorado with the appropriate fee, get approved and then you are a commissioned agent of the state! Now to get your stamp/embosser and journal can cost a little more (around $150.00) - you NEED these items to do the job. Apart from that, you are ready to go with some basic training (free from the state) and a way to rpomote the service. OK, that seems 'easy' Right? NOT!
It is important that you become part of an association of some kind to add legitimacy to what you are doing and then.....take classes to become certified and background checked. This is where things start to ad up cost wise but is well worth it.
So, there you have it! I'm starting in this service area and will soon be certified as a Notary Signing Agent so I can help with mortgage processing at closing time. This is my adventure and I will be adding more business services soon to this because I will become quite mobile.
Any thoughts here would be appriciated. I will be adding more as time progresses>
